An Army major and a corporal died when a military vehicle veered off the road in Mullaitivu earlier today, Police sources said. 

Four others also sustained injuries due to the accident and were hospitalized. 

The Army major who died in the accident was identified as Asanka Liyanage, a 33-year-old man and a resident of Ambepussa. 

The deceased Corporal is a 30-year-old officer and a resident of the Hatton area. 

The vehicle, the Police said, belonged to the Administration Division of the Army Headquarters. 

Further police investigations are underway.
