Finance and Media Minister Mangala Samaraweera and Minister Harsha de Silva held discussions with IMF chief Christina Lagard on the resumption of IMF aid programme to Sri Lanka which came to a grinding halt during the 51-day political crisis.
"Sri Lanka remains committed to progressive economic reforms and a team from IMF will visit Sri Lanka in February 2019 to resume discussions," Samaraweera tweeted after the meeting.
Samaraweera described his meeting with Lagard this morning as "very productive."
Meanwhile, Minister Harsha de Silva, who was also present at the discussion, said, "Agreed that a strong policy mix and an effective implementation of economic reforms are key to strengthen market confidence and support people friendly growth in Sri Lanka."
Central Bank Governor Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy also attended the meeting representing the Sri Lankan government.
