The CID informed the Colombo Fort Magistrate that Namal Kumara, the main who revealed the alleged plot to kill President Maithripala Sirisena, has deserted the military service.
The CID also said investigations were underway into allegations that he presented false certificates to join the military service.
The CID said Kumara had failed seven subjects in his GCE Ordinary Level examination and therefore he was not eligible to join the military service.
Kumara, a former worker at the Presidential Secretariat, had joined the Army and the Navy separately, the CID informed the magistrate today.
Meanwhile, Kumara told media yesterday that he wanted to meet President Maithripala Sirisena in person to reveal "more secrets" about the assassination plot. He went to the Presidential Secretariat yesterday and made a formal request to meet President Sirisena.
