The CID has recorded a statement from Rear Admiral U.I. Serasinghe, the Director, Land Operations of Sri Lanka Navy over the abductions and killings of 11 youth. 

The senior Navy officer was questioned by the CID over a statement made by Lt. Commander Krishantha Welagedera, a key witness in the case. 

Welagedara had reportedly informed the CID that there had been attempts to influence him over the case. 

Chief of Defence Staff Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne was remanded recently for attempting to assault a witness in the case. 

Wijegunaratne, the highest-ranking serving military officer in the country, has also been named a suspect in the case.
