Former Minister S. B.Dissnayake said his party, the UPFA, would soon topple the current government and form a new one.
Speaking to the media yesterday, Dissanayake said they would engineer a regime change in the country "the moment they see an opportunity."
"It can happen at an election, or it can happen in Parliament, " Dissanayake added.
However, the last time the UPFA engineered a regime change it led to a 51 day political standoff that finally ended with the re-appointment of Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Prime Minister.
The former Minister also added that his party would unreservedly support a resolution seeking an early dissolution of Parliament and snap elections.
