A senior ICC anti-corruption official will be posted to Sri Lanka to work with the country's cricket authorities to curb corrupt activities, new Sports Minister Harin Fernando said.
"I had a very positive meeting with ICC Anti Corruption Unit in Dubai today, They handed over a report to me, a senior ICC Anti Corruption officer will be posted to Sri Lanka to work with us," Fernando tweeted, a short while ago.
He said he would soon meet ICC Chief David Richardson to discuss the matters further.
The ICC anti-corruption officials have already handed over a report on Sri Lanka to President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and former Sports Minister Faizser Mustapha.
It remains unclear as to what action has been taken by the local cricket authorities on the report presented by the ICC.
Fernando will also discuss with the ICC on the possibility of appointing an interim committee, headed by a senior sports administrator, until the next Cricket world cup.
Former Sri Lankan cricketer and ICC match referee Roshan Mahanama is tipped to be appointed as the head of the new interim committee.
