President Maithripala Sirisena will leave for a long private holiday in Bangkok, Thailand, with his family.
Sources close to the President said Sirisena and his family would take a break in Thailand, away from the political drama in Sri Lanka.
They added that Sirisena would spend a week in Thailand and return to the country before the dawn of new year.
Close family members of the President will accompany him during the tour.
Sources within the President's Media Division said no photographs of the tour would be available as it is a "strictly personal" holiday.
