Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and his Chief of Sraff Minister Sagala Ratnayaka yesterday had discussions with diplomats from EU countries.
The meeting was one of the first official tasks undertaken by the Prime Minister and his Chief of Staff.
During the meeting, the government representatives requested the EU Ambassasors to encourage more tourists from their regions to visit Sri Lanka.
This came against the backdrop where many western nations cautioned their citizens against visiting Sri Lanka after the outbreak of the political crisis on October 26.
As a result, the country's tourism industry suffered and many tourists cancelled their visits fearing public unrest.
Wickremesinghe and Ratnayaka assured the diplomats that the country's political climate has returned to normalcy.
Ratnayaka also conducted several separate meetings with some key diplomats including the US Ambassador to Sri Lanka.
Sources close to him added all meetings were "successfull" and the diplomats assured full support to the new government.
