Three SLFP MPs, Vijith Wijayamuni Zoysa, Lakshman Kiriella and Indika Bandaranaike crossed over to the ruling party, a short while ago. 

With the latest defections, UNF now has the support of 106 MPs in the House - seven short of a simple majority in Parliament. 

Speaking in Parliament today, Zoysa said they would continue to remain members of the SLFP. 

However, President Maithripala Sirisena informed the SLFP parliamentary group yesterday that he would not give Cabinet positions to any SLFP MP joining the United National Front. 

The three MPs joined the ruling party disregarding President Sirisena's warning.
