UNP Parliamentarian Eran Wickremaratne said the new Cabinet should comprise of 30 Ministers.
Addressing a press conference in Colombo, Wickremaratne said the new Cabinet should resort to strict measures to avoid wasteful expenditure. "Especially they don't need new vehicles within the next 12 months. They should use the existing resources until the next election."
The UNP MP also added that those who supported the October 26 coup should not hold positions in the new Cabinet.
Asian Mirror learns that the new Cabinet will not be a national government, but a coalition government.
"Any joining the government from other parties will become members of the UNF. They will not be allowed to criticize the government's collective decisions," a senior UNP Parliamentarian told Asian Mirror.
The new Cabinet, informed government sources said, is likely to take oaths on Wednesday.
