Confusions still prevail over former Presidet Mahinda Rajapaksa's decision to resign from his position after the Supreme Court's ruling last evening.
Speaking to the media yesterday, several close associates of Rajapaksa said the former Prime Minister and his party would officially step down from the government.
It was also reported that Rajapaksa had met Sirisena last evening and discussed the resignation.
However, the timing of the resignation hinges on the outcome or the Supreme Court hearing today, on the appeal filed by Rajapaksa against the Court of Appeal interim order.
The heating of the appeal is still underway before a three-judge bench comprising Eva Wanasundara, Buwaneka Aluvihare and Vijith Malalgoda.
A source close to Rajapaksa confirmed Asian Mirror that the former President would make a statement on his future plans after the outcome of the Supreme Court hearing today.
