Counsels of 122 MPs who sought a Writ of Quo Warranto against former President Mahinda Rajapaksa today raised objections over Eva Wanasundara's inclusion in the three-judge bench hearing the appeal in the Supreme Court.
Rajapaksa's appeal against the interim order issued by the Court of Appeal in the Quo Warranto case was taken up in the Supreme Court this morning before justices Eva Wanasundara, Vijith Malalgoda and Buwaneka Aluvihare.
Malalgoda and Aluwihare were members of the seven member bench which delivered a historic verdict on the dissolution of Parliament yesterday.
Counsels of petitioners raised objections over Wanasundara's inclusion, as she has boasted of her close connections with former President Mahinda Rajapaksa in a newspaper interview in 2014.
UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and other MPs have filed a motion seeking a five-judge bench to hear Rajapaksa's appeal.
