Central Committee meeting of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) will be held tonight at 7 PM under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.
The current political situation of the country is expected to be discussed widely at the Central Committee meeting of the party.
President Maithripala Sirisena has come under increasing pressure to appoint a new government with the Court of Appeal issuing an interim order preventing Mahinda Rajapaksa and his purported government from functioning in office.
Rajapaksa's appeal against interim order is yet to be taken up by the Supreme Court.
Sirisena, addressing an SLFP convention earlier this week said, he would take measures to resolve the current political crisis in a week.
