UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe today responded to the allegations by President Maithripala Sirisena saying refusing appoint him as the Prime Minister despite showing a parliamentary majority is the President's problem.
'"It is not my problem. We are a parliamentary democracy. The President has to work with the Parliament, " Wickremesinghe added.
The UNP Leader also said he would accept none of Sirisena's allegations and explained that according to Buddha's teaching insults remain with person dishing them out. "Bamuna numbata bharai, " Wickremesinghe said deferring to a Buddhist parable.
Addressing a SLFP convention yesterday, Sirisena accused Wickremesinghe of destroying the party and destroying him. Sirisena said he wanted to rid the country of Wickremesinghe's curse .
