UNP Parliamentarian Sarath Fonseka today proposed to the Parliament that the President of Sri Lanka should undergo a mental test once a year.
Speaking in Parliament, a short while ago, Fonseka said, in the US all political and military leaders should undergo a mental test once a year
By using the same method in Sri Lanka, Fonseka said, the leaders who have mental issues should be vacated from their positions.
These remarks come in the wake of President Sirisena's claims to the effect that Fonseka may have been involved in an alleged assassination plot on Sirisena's life.
He said any MPs in the UNP would be considered for the premiership with the exceptions of Ranil Wickremesinghe and Sarath Fonseka.
Sirisena, while addressing an SLFP convention in Colombo yesterday, launched a scathing attack on the UNP and its leader on destroying him (Sirisena) and the country.
