Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa's lawyers have filed an appeal against the interim order issued by the Court of Appeal, in Supreme Court.

Speaking to media, UPFA Parliamentarian Gamini Lokuge confirmed that Rajapaksa's lawyers had filed an appeal in the Supreme Court.

Issuing a statement yesterday, Rajapaksa said he would appeal against the decision saying that his party did not agree with the Court of Appeal verdict. 

Meanwhile, addressing a press conference earlier today, a group of UPFA MPs severely criticized the interim order saying it was an "unprecedented order" in judicial history.
