President Maithripala Sirisena informally admitted that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa did not have a parliamentary majority, UNF MP Mano Ganesan said.
Speaking about the UNF party leaders meeting with the President at the Presidential Secretariat last night, Ganesan said Sirisena "informally" admitted that the UNF had a majority in Pariliament.
Ganesan also added Sirisena promised not to prorogue Parliament again, and even expressed willingness to gazette dissolving Parliament which has now been challenged before the Supreme Court.
However, the President had again opposed appointment of Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Prime Minister. "When he said that, the discussion virtually came to a halt, " Ganesan said.
