The motion seeking to cut off budgetary allocations to the Prime Minister's Office was passed in Parliament with 123 MPs voting in favour.
UNP MP Ravi Karunanayake presented the motion to the House and it was supported by the UNP, the JVP and the TNA.
The motion will restrict S. Amarasekera, the Secretary to newly-appointed Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, from accessing public funds to meet the expenses of the Prime Minister's Office.
When the motion was taken up voting, 116 MPs voted in favour of it via electronic system and seven MPs voted by name.
No MP voted against the motion as the parliamentary group supporting former President Mahinda Rajapaksa boycotted the session.
