UNP MP Wasantha Senanayake made another move today declaring that he would function as an independent MP in Parliament.
Senanayake has informed his decision, in writing, to Speaker Karu Jayasuriya, political sources said.
Senanayake, who was appointed the Minister of Tourism and Wildlife by President Maithripala Sirisena recently, has changed his position six times since the outbreak of the political crisis on October 26.
It was only last night that Senanayake addressed a press conference at Temple Trees pledging support to UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe.
He also apologized to the leaders of the UPFA and UNP supporters for letting them down, and "causing inconvenience."
He also wrote a letter of resignation to President Maithripala Sirisena and expressed his concerns over the state of Parliamentary democracy in Sri Lanka.
