IGP Pujitha Jayasundara gave a four hour statement yesterday to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over the alleged conspiracy to kill President Maithripala Sirisena and former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. 

CID sources said a statement was recorded from Jayasundara as part of the ongoing investigation process. 

Former TID Director DIG Nalaka Silva has also been questioned several times over the alleged conspiracy. 

Meanwhile, Namal Kumara, a former employee of the Presidential Secretariat who first revealed the alleged conspiracy to media, had said he was planning to contest the next General Election from the Sri Lanka Podujana Party (SLPP).
