Former Law and Order Mimister and UNP MP Sagala Ratnayaka hit back strongly at President Maithripala Sirisena who accused UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and Ratnayaka of not pursuing investigations into the wrongdoers of the Rajapaksa regime.
Sirisena leveled the allegation at Wickremesinghe and his former Law and Order Minister addressing the Foreign Correspondents Association (FCA) in Sri Lanka yesterday.
Ratnayaka responded to Sirisena's remarks saying he, as a responsible Cabinet minister, had never spoken in public about instances where there was interference with the high-profile investigations.
"But if President Sirisena’s wild allegations continue, I will be forced to divulge details on who interfered, when, where and how, " he said.
"The IGP's recent letter to the Secretary Defence over the transfer of CID officer Nishantha Silva (currently the public domain) clearly states that President Sirisena gave the order. This is a clear example of the President's interference in action - a recurring habit these past 3.5 years, " Ratnayaka also added.
