The SrI Lanka Freedom Party Central (SLFP) Committee will meet tomorrow amidst attempts by a group of Parliamentarians, led by National Organizer Duminda Dissanayake, to form an independent group in Parliament.
President Maithripala Sirisena, the Chairman of the party, will chair the Central Committee meeting tomorrow, party sources said.
Political Sources said the group led by Duminda Dissanayake has discussed its future moves with former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga.
Party sources said it was not clear whether Kumaratunga and Dissanayake would attend the Central Committee meeting tomorrow.
Another complication confronting the Central Committee of the party is that some of its members have obtained membership with the Sri Lanka Podujana Party (SLPP), formed by the Rajapaksa group.
According to the SLFP Constitution, no party member is allowed to obtain membership with other political parties.
