Parliamentarians agreed to continue the adjournment debate until 6 pm today to discuss the current political situation.
The MPs decided to forego and lunch and continue the sessions uninterrupted as many speakers had requested speeches.
Before the adjournment debate started, several media reports erroneously stated that the House had been suspended till November 27.
The UPFA MP group did not take part in the proceedings after the Speaker decided to conduct a vote on the composition of the Selections Committee.
In addition to the UNP MPs, JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake and TNA Leader R. Sampanthan also addressed the House.
