The United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA), Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) and Tamil National Alliance (TNA) have submitted names for the Parliament Selection Committee. 

The UPFA nominated MPs: Dinesh Gunawardene, S. B. Dissanayake, Nimal Siripala de Silva, Mahinda Samarasinghe, Wimal Weerawansa, Thilanga Sumathipala and Udaya Gammanpila. 

The JVP nominated Vijitha Herath and Nalinda Jayatissa while the TNA submitted the names Mavai Senathirajah and Dharmalingham Siddarthan. 

This makes up eleven of twelve slots available in the Parliament Selection Committee. The United National Party (UNP) is yet to submit names and with the quota set to exceed, a tense situation can be expected in Parliament on Friday.
