Making a volte-face for the fourth time, UNP MP Wasantha Senanayake who earlier pledged to resign from his Cabinet portfolio after re-joining the UNP, has attended a Cabinet meeting, chaired by President Maithripala Sirisena.
This was the fourth time Senanayake switched allegiance since the outbreak of the political crisis on October 26.
When the crisis broke out, Senanayake, who was on a foreign tour, welcomed President Maithripala Sirisena's move to appoint Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Prime Minister and offered support to the 'new government'.
However, after returning to the country, he met UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe at Temple Trees and pledged support.
A day after he met Wickremesinghe at Temple Trees, Senanayake took oaths as the Minister of Tourism and Wildlife in the purported government.
Taking another 180-degree turn, Senanayake re-joined the UNP camp when a no-confidence motion against Mahinda Rajapaksa was presented to Parliament and voted in favour of it.
