UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe expressed confidence that he would be able to form a new government "very soon."
Speaking to foreign correspondents in Colombo, Wickemesinghe said there was no necessity to go for a floor vote again and he had demonstrated his majority support in the House.
We have the numbers, we can carry on. I don't see any problem, " Wickremesinghe said when asked if he would accede to another no confidence motion.
"The country needs stability" he said adding that his sole focus was to bring political stability to the country by forming a strong government.
"We will form a government and present a resolution before June, next year, to go for an election with the consent of all political parties, " he said.
"I have represented Parliament for a long time. I was in Parliament when there was a bomb attack within the premises. But never did it sink to this level, " Wickemesinghe said commenting on the behavior of UPFA MPs in Parliament today.
