Cabinet Spokesman of the purported government Dayasiri Jayasekera said they could not accept the motion signed by Parliamentarians against Mahinda Rajapaksa as there was a confusion about its date.
"Some of them signed the motion today while some signed on November 02. First, it was dated November 02, but later it has been changed to November 14. We cannot accept the motion of this kind," Jayasekera said, addressing the 'Cabinet briefing' a short while ago.
He said Speaker Karu Jayasuriya violated the Parliamentary procedure when the House reconvened today.
Meanwhile, another Minister of the purported government Mahinda Samarasinghe said President Maithripala Sirisena would make a final decision on the matter when he receives the motion from the Speaker.
The Minister, however, did not elaborate as to what action the President would take.
Speaker Jayasuriya, issuing a statement earlier today, confirmed that 122 MPs had voted in favour of the No Confidence Motion and copies of the motion and the signatures of MPs would be sent to the President for "further action".
