Strong security measures have been put in place around the Hulftsdorp Courts complex before the proceedings of the second hearing of the multiple petitions filed against the dissolution of Parliament.
The Police Special Task Force (STF) has been deployed to beef up security in the area.
The Attorney General, the chief legal officer of the government, is expected to present his submissions before the three-judge bench, this morning.
Police sources said the security had been increased to prevent any unruly incident within or around the court premises.
They said several political supporters hooted at Minister Vasudewa Nanayakkara when the latter arrived at the Supreme Court yesterday for the hearing of the fetitions.
As a result, a tense situation occurred briefly, when the Minister confronted the political supporters who hooted at them.
