Former Sri Lankan Cricketer T.M. Dilshan is expected to join the Sri Lanka Podujana Party (SLPP) with the intention of contesting the Parliamentary election, informed sources said.
They added that Dilshan, who retired from international cricket two years ago, would contest from the Kalutara District.
In several media interviews after his retirement from cricket, Dilshan made no secret of his political ambitions.
Asian Mirror also learns that the leaders of the SLPP will hold a discussion with former Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan in an attempt to lure him into electoral politics.
Muraltharan made headlines last week when he expressed controversial ideas about politics and democracy, in an interview with BBC Sandeshaya.
