Opposition Leader R. Sampanthanis currently holding a meeting with President Maithripala Sirisena in Colombo on convening Parliament.
Sources familiar with the matter said the meeting is a last-ditch attempt on the part of the Opposition Leader to convince the President to respect constitutional procedures and convene Parliament immediately.
The President yesterday decided to convene Parliament on November 14 - to which all political parties expect the UPFA vehemently objected.
Before meeting the President, Sampanthan and his party strongman M.A. Sumnthiran held a discussion with the JVP on the same matter.
The TNA has already made it clear that it will vote against Mahinda Rajapaksa's appointment as the Prime Minister when Parliament is next convened.
