A delegation of UNP MPs held a discussion with Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thera, the Mahanayake of the Malwatte Chapter, on the current political crisis.

Parliamentarians Ravi Karunanayake, Lakshman Kiriella, Patali Champika Ranawaka, Daya Gamage, Ranjith Manddumabandara and a few others were the members of the delegation. 

They sought the Mahanayake Thera to intervene to resolve the current political crisis and ensure that the Parliament is convened without delay. 

The delegation said President Sirisena had backtracked on his promise to convene Parliament on November 07 and it was a grave threat to democracy of the country. 

They also explained to the Mahanayake Thera that various attempts had been made to bribe Parliamentarians into switching allegiance.
