A resolution of no-confidence, based on the motion passed by 118 MPs in Parliament today, has been sent to the Secretary-General of Parliament by the Office of the Leader of the House.
The resolution will be included to the agenda of Parliament for its next session, the Office said.
The resolution states that the gazette notification issued by President Maithripala Sirisena proroguing Parliament was null and void.
It also states that the appointment of Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Prime Minister was unconstitutional and illegal as Ranil Wickremesinghe was never removed from the position in aawful manner.
The resolution has been backed by all parties of the United National Front, the Tamil National Alliance and the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP).
