Rajith Keerthi Tennakoon, spokesman for the Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CaFFE), on a Facebook post, claimed that only 112 Parliamentarians attended the meeting held with the Speaker today.
He also presented a name-list of the attendees, obtained from the Sergeant-at-Arms office in Parliament.
However, UNP's State Minister Ajith P. Perera, the Parliamentarian who moved the resolution, said the absent MPs from the UNP, the JVP and the TNA extended their full support to the resolution calling for the immediate convention of Parliament and challenging former President Mahinda Rajapaksa's appointment as the Prime Minister.
UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, four JVP Parliamentarians including party leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake and two TNA Parliamentarians were absent during the meeting but fully supported the resolution.
However, two UNF Parliamentarians, including Athuraiye Rathana Thera and S,B. Navinna were absent during the meeting today and did not explicitly support the resolution. Therefore, the UNP said, they were not considered when taking the final count.
