UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe's Chief of Staff Sagala Ratnayaka has written to IGP Pujith Jayasundara requesting that he refrain from withdrawing UNP leader's security until a decision on who is Prime Minister is made in Parliament. 

In his letter, on the official letterhead of the Prime Minister's Office, Ratnayaka told the IGP that he had made the same request of the Speaker and requested the IGP to discuss the matter with the Speaker and other party leaders. 

Signing off as Chief-of-Staff to the Prime Minister, Ratnayaka reiterated the UNP's stance that Ranil Wickremesinghe enjoyed the majority of Parliament.
