The UNP said this morning that they would protect Temple Trees until the convention of Parliament as a symbol of their resistance to the "anti-democratic coup."
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will remain in Temple Trees until Parliament is convened, a senior UNP Parliamentarian said.
"The Rajapaksa group may resort to violence and send goons to intimidate us. But we will protect our party leader who is still the legitimate Prime Minister of the country, " he said, adding that over 4000 party supporters were inside the Temple Trees premises last evening.
The Parliamentarian said they invited all party members and supporters to Temple Trees today for their struggle for democracy.
"We will fight until Parliament is convened, " he added
