Sri Lanka Professional Web Journalists Association has decided is set to stage a protest in front of the Saudi Embassy in Colombo today in protest of the murder of Jamal Kahashoggi.
The move is aimed at exerting pressure on the Saudi authorities to launch an independent investigation into the murder and bring the perpetrators to book.
Meanwhile, a collective of media organizations in Sri Lanka also issued a statement condemning the grisly murder of a journalist who faught for freedom of expression in the Middle East.
Khashoggi was lasted seen walking into the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey, where he was murdered by a hit squad with close links to the Saudi Prince, Mohammed Bin Salman. The journalist's body was later dismembered and a 'body-double' was used in a shocking attempt to cover up the crime.
