Northern Province Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran said he was set to launch his new party Tamil Makkal Kootani (TMK), soon. 

The Chief Miniter today said the party would "uphold the fundamentals of Tamil nationalism." 

The announcement forces the TNA to make a decision on Wignesaran's party membership as the Chief Minister has made no secret of his intentions to form a breakaway party. 

It is also believed that former Parliamentarian Gajendra Kumar Ponnambalam will also play an important role in Wigneswaran's new political party.
