Emulating his leader former President Mahinda Rajapaksa who recently ended a press conference abruptly in the face of tough questions by journalists, JO MP Bandula Gunawardena too walked out of a press browsing blaming journalists for asking "irrelevant questions."
The Press conference was organized by the Economic Research Wing of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) of which Gunawardena is a central figure.
Gunawardena avoided the questions asked by the journalists attending the press conference saying they were "political matters" which had no bearing on the country's economy.
"Political questions should be asked from politicians conducting our political press briefing on Wednesday. I am only taking relevant questions, " the Parliamentarian said.
When the journalists insisted on taking their questions, Gunawardena said they had been paid by Arjuna Aloysius, the controversial businessman who is at the center of the Treasury Bonds fiasco.
Gunawardena kept hurling allegations at the journalists saying they were on the payroll of Aloysius and attempting to disrupt the Joint Opposition's press conferences.
When the journalists strongly countered Gunawardena's allegations, the Parliamentarian walked out of the press conference, ending the proceedings.
