Supreme Court Registrar P.M.S. Dharmakeerthi said former Chief Justice Priyasad Dep, who retired from office on Friday, did not obtain a single vehicle permit during his tenure.
Bidding farewell to the former Chief Justice, the Registrar also said Dep did not obtain the plot of land given by the government, to which he was entitled to as a Supreme Court judge.
"Whenever he came back from an official tour overseas, the former CJ made sure that he returned the money given by the government in advance for his expenses, " he added.
He also hailed Dep as one of the most exemplary Chief Justices ever held office in Sri Lanka.
Dep, an old boy of St. Joseph College, Colombo, was the Solicitor General of the Attorney General's Department before he became a Supreme Court Judge in 2011.
