President Maithripala Sirisena is to convene the Executive Committee and the Central Committee of the SLFP to discuss their continuation in the government.
The President is likely to convene the two decision making bodies of the party upon his return from Seychelles.
The possibility of entering into an alliance with the Joint Opposition is also expected to be discussed at the meeting.
The party has already appointed an internal committee to make recommendations in this regard.
Asian Mirror learns that the party is sharp divided over the matter and a section of party MPs are strongly pushing to continue in the government.
Informed party sources said if the SLFP decided to break away from the government, it could create another division within the party.
