Former Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara has alluded to a growing spat between Angelo Mathews and Head Coach Chandika Hathurusinghe.
In an interview with ESPNCricinfo, Sangakkara said Hathurusinghe and Mathews should resolve their issues and move on with the game.
The issue between former Sri Lankan Mathews and Hathurusinghe came to a head when the former, writing aetter after stepping down from captaincy, hinted at an attempt to making him the scapegoat for the team's Asia Cup letter.
Mathews, in his letter, said all decisions during the series were made collectively by the captain, the Head Coach, and the national selectors.
A day after writing the letter, Mathews was axed from Sri Lanka's ODI and T20 squads for the series against England citing fitness concerns.
Mathews responded strongly to his removal by demanding a fitness test.
Sangakkara, who retired from international cricket in 2015, has been a strong supporter of Mathews and an admirer of Hathurusinghe's coaching tactics.
Mathews was reappointed the captain soon after Hathurisinghe assumed duties as the Head Coach of the national cricket team.
Sangakkara has said Mathews should now go back to the nets, up his game and make a strong comeback to the side.
