Traffic Police DIG Ajith Rohana, responding to a video clip published on Asian Mirror last week, said the video clip had been recorded before he made a statement permitting the public to record their interactions with the Traffic Police.
A Police officer attached to the Narahenpita Police station has been caught on camera attempting to assault a person who was trying to video-record his conversation with the Traffic Police.
The vehicle owner, who attempted to record the conversation, said he was unfairly stopped by the Police and that he did not violate any traffic law.
Rohana said the incident had taken place in Narahenpita, last year, before he made the statement on video recording.
He also stated that the person who recorded the video had been charged and fined Rs. 2000 for the offence.
