President Maithripala Sirisena has decided to appoint Attorney General Jayantha Jayasuriya as the next Chief Justice, Asian Mirror reliably learns.
Jayasuriya will take up the position when the current Chief Justice, Priyasath Depp, retires in a month.
Jayasuriya is expected to be 'parachuted' to the post ahead of other senior Supreme Jugdes eying the judiciary's top post.
Dappula de Livera, an Additional Solicitor General was made news over the Presidential Commission's investigation into the bond fiasco, is tipped to be appointed the new Attorney General.
The Attorney General's appointment, however, has to be endorsed by the Constitutional Council.
