Graeme Labrooy, the Chairman of Cricket Selectors, has shown little interest in former all-rounder Thilakaratne Dilshan's comeback attempt to rescue the faltering Sri Lanka Cricket team.
Labrooy, in an interview with a Sunday English newspaper, said the idea of someone, who has been out of cricket for two years, coming back to play international cricket was "far fetched."
"Then why not ask Kumar Sangakkara to come back?" Labrooy had asked.
The 42 year old former old rounder, last week, said he did not mind coming back to the side to strengthen the Sri Lanka cricket team which suffered humiliating defeats against Bangladesh and Afghanistan during the Asia Cup series.
Dilshan said he was extremely sad to see the Sri Lankan Cricket team, two time ICC World Champions in ODI and T20 formats, in the current state.
However, with national cricket selectors showing little interest in Dilshan's proposal, the former cricketer's comeback plan may not be successful.
Dilshan said he initially intended to play until 2019 World Cup, but later decided to retire due to "some issues."
