Parliament passed two motions a short while ago to suspend UPFA MPs Wimal Weerawansa and Prasanna Ranaweera from attending Parliament, for four weeks.
When the motion against Weerawansa was taken, 39 MPs voted in favour while 21 voted against it.
The motion against Ranaweera was supported by 41 MPs and opposed by 21.
Leader of the House Lakshman Kiriella presented the motions to Parliament against the two MPs for violating the code of conduct for MPs by disrupting Parliamentary proceedings.
This is the first time the current Parliament took measures to suspend MPs for disrupting proceedings.
