The Criminal Investigations Department yesterday arrested another senior Army officer over the disappearance of journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda.
Lt. Col. Erantha Peiris, an officer attached to the Army intelligence unit was arrested, yesterday, over the disappearance.
This came against the backdrop of concerns raised by President Maithripala Sirisena over arresting senior Army officers without filing legal action against them.
The CID had previosly complained to court that tge Army was not cooperating with the Police investigations and not disclosing crucial information regarding the suspects.
Several members of the military arrested over the disappearance of Ekneligoda have been released on bail.
The journalist was abducted in Rajagiriya in January, 2010, and had been taken to an Army camp in Girithale.
