Access CEO Sumal Perera, who recently demonstrated his eagerness for a despotic ruler in Sri Lanka, received a Yahapalana bonanza this week when the Cabinet approved to give him 114.5 perches at Union Place, Colombo 02, on a 99-year lease.
Perera, moderating a recent panel discussion in Colombo, slammed the government for lack of policy stability and firm decision-making in the country. When Softlogic CEO Ashok Pathirage, speaking at the same discussion, stressed the need for an autocratic ruler to develop the country, Perera too endorsed the view.
Sumal Perera, at the same panel discussion, suggested his friend, Dhammika Perera, another billionaire businessman, to run for Presidency and pledged to throw his full weight behind Dhammika Perera’s election campaign.
It was the same Sumal Perera who got a plot of land from the heart of Colombo this week at Rs. 1172 million (Rs. 9.75 million a perch).
The land handed over to Access belongs to Urban Development Authority (UDA) and the Cabinet proposal was submitted by Megapolis and Western Development Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka.
