The MILCo Chaiman admitted that the milk packets distributed at the Janabalaya protest campaign organized by the Joint Opposition, earlier this month, had been contaminated by a third party, Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa said.
Rajapaksa, the main organizer of the protest, made this remark after meeting the MILCO Chairman today to ask about the progress of the investigations into what he termed the contaminated milk packets distributed at the rally.
In addition to Rajapaksa, several JO Parliamentarians including C.B. Ratnaike, Shehan Semasinghe and Tharaka Balasuriya were present at the meeting.
A number of JO supporters fell ill and admitted to hospital after consuming the “contaminated” milk packets distributed at the rally.
The JO has demanded the government to launch an investigation into the incident and bring culprits to book.
They also said a UNP Parliamentarian representing the Colombo district was behind the incident.
