Sri Lankan Rupee hit a record new record low against US Dollar, today, continuing its downward march.
The seeling price of a US Dollar was Rs.166.64, moving further down from yesterday.
Economic analysts have pointed out that President Maithripala Sirisena's attempt to revoke the fuel price formula would cause a further dip in the value of Sri Lankan Rupee.
The government, however, has maintained that the weakining of the ruppee will not make a serious impact on the country's economy.
Meanwhile, currently depreceation agaist the US dollar is experienced in many parts of the world, including India.
The IMF today said, since the beginning of the year, the Indian rupee had lost about 11% of its value in nominal terms vis a vis the US dollar.
