Sri Lanka’s former Head Coach Nick Pothas said why fast bowler Lasith Malinga was left out of the Sri Lankan side remained a mystery.
Pothas, a South African, was Sri Lanka’s Head Coach at the time Malinga was left oit by cricket selectors in 2017.
Pothas was demoted to the post of Fielding Coach when Sri Lanka hired Chaandika Hathurisinghe and subsequently the former South African cricketer resigned from his job.
“If ever you need proof that class is permanent. What a comeback @Lasith99Malinga Champion person and champion bowler,” Pothas tweeted.
“Malinga is on my team sheet every day of the week and twice if I could have him,” Pothas also said.
Sri Lanka’s veteran fast bowler took 04 wickets for 23 runs during the first Asia Cup match against Bangladesh.
Although Sri Lanka lost the match by a resounding margin, Malinga’s phenomenal performance stood out.
